Where will the apartments be located?
We will be located
at 3001 State University Drive in Sacramento, on campus at Sac
State.
How close to campus are you located?
Hornets Commons is
located at the south end of the campus of Sac State. We are within
walking distance to all your classes and your favorite Sacramento
eateries.
How many people can live there?
We have 1,100
residents in 284 apartments.
What types of apartments are available?
We have two
apartments available: 2x2 shared bedrooms and 4x2 private bedroom
apartments. More information is available from our leasing office
staff.
Are the apartments furnished?
Your apartment will
come with a couch, one chair, two “C” side tables, entertainment
stand, an island with chairs, twin size XL beds, stackable/under
bed chest of drawers, and student desk with chair. All apartments
also come with Energy Star, stainless steel appliances. The
refrigerators come with an ice maker and garbage disposals are
included!
What size are the beds?
Each bedroom
contains a comfortable Twin XL bed.
Can additional furniture be brought into the apartment?
Additional furniture
is allowed. However, due to storage constraints, we cannot remove
furniture from furnished units.
Am I required to have a meal plan?
Meal plans are not
required. All apartments feature a full kitchen with stainless
steel appliances. Sac State offers several different meal plans.

Will there be Resident Assistants available?
Yes, Hornet Commons
will have Resident Assistants located throughout the community. The
RAs will be focused on community development and are available for
lockouts, after hour emergencies, programming and general
administrative support for the building.
What amenities do you offer?
We have SO much to
offer! Our community will have a state-of-the-art fitness center,
sparkling swimming pool, a relaxing outdoor lounge and green
spaces, grilling stations, a computer lab, multiple study lounges,
a community room, a sand volleyball court, a bocce ball court, a
basketball half court, bike lockers and repair station, relaxing
hammocks, yoga lawn, fire pits, dog park, and an onsite Einstein
Bagels café.
Can I pay my bill with a credit card? Is there an extra charge?
Absolutely! You can
check your balance; pay your rent via our online system with VISA,
MasterCard, Discover Card or E-Check. There is a convenience fee
for using a credit cards when making a payment.
Can I request an apartment or roommate?
Roommate requests
are first consideration for room assignments. Apartment preferences
are taken into consideration but are not guaranteed. We do our best
to satisfy all your requests.
What if I don't have a roommate?
With our roommate
matching service, we can easily accommodate you—even if you don't
have anyone to live with or enough roommates to fill an apartment.
We have partnered with RoomSync to provide a modern matching
platform where residents choose their own roommates. After you
complete the leasing process you will be emailed a link to join our
RoomSync network. You will then log in to RoomSync, create a
matching profile, and begin your search to find your new best
friend - or roommate for starters. If you already have a roommate
in mind, you can confirm your roommate request within RoomSync.
Can I pick my bedroom?
We encourage all
residents to request a bedroom on the roommate matching card
section of their online application.
Can I use my financial aid to pay for my rent?
Yes, you may use
financial aid to pay rent. Please note that financial aid usually
is disbursed after the first payment is due so you may need to make
a payment and then reimburse yourself when you receive your aid.
When is my first payment due?
The first payment is
due July 15th, and the next payment due is September 1st.
Will you send me a bill for each installment?
We do not send any
invoices, but for your convenience, you can use our online resident
portal to check your balance at any time and schedule payments.
Your copy of the lease serves as your bill.
When can I move in?
Our move in date is
August 27th, 2021.
Do I need a guarantor?
Yes. All leases are
required to have a guarantor. If an approved guarantor cannot be
obtained, we will accept a security deposit of one (1) installment.
The security deposit does not go towards any future rent payment.
What is the cost?
The cost varies on
the many floorplans and availability fluctuates every day. Please
visit the Floor Plans page or call us at 916-573-6205 for our
current rates.
What types of leases are available?
Hornet Commons has
both academic (9 month) and full year (12 month) leases available.
If you choose to renew your full year lease, you will not need to
move‐out of your apartment at any time.
Is parking available?
Yes, parking is
available on a limited basis. Contact the Leasing Office for
availability and monthly rates.
What utilities are included in my monthly installment?
Our rental packages
are all‐inclusive! HD cable, high‐speed internet, electric, water,
sewer, gas & waste removal are all included.
What if I need to cancel my lease?
The resident is
responsible for the entire lease contract. Hornets Commons does
allow residents to reassign their lease agreement to another
qualified and approved student. Please call the office for details.
Do you allow pets?
We love pets at
Hornet Commons! We charge a $300 non-refundable pet deposit fee and
$30 monthly pet rent. No more than one animal is permitted in a
bedroom and no more than two animals are permitted in an apartment.
